Clear and Control
Forest, Brush and Vegetation
Forestry mulching is an efficient, environmentally responsible clearing method that grinds trees, brush, and invasive vegetation into nutrient-rich mulch in a single step.
At Dundee Farm, we use industry leading mulching equipment to clear overgrown properties, reclaim pasture, maintain right-of-way corridors, and prepare sites for development.
This process minimizes soil disturbance, improves erosion control, and leaves behind a natural ground cover that enhances soil health while reducing regrowth.
Got Questions? – We’ve got Answers.
Is forestry mulching right for me?
Forestry mulching is the right solution if you need fast, cost-effective land clearing AND leaving roots, ground stumps, and a layer of mulch is a suitable finish for your project.
This is ideal for overgrown residential acreage, lot clearing, pasture reclamation, forest management, trail creation, invasive species control. If your goal is efficient vegetation management with minimal environmental impact, forestry mulching is often the most practical and sustainable land management method.
When is forestry mulching the wrong solution?
Forestry mulching is the wrong choice when a project requires full root removal, such as preparation for foundations, utilities, or pre-construction clearing.
While mulching clears vegetation and small to mid-sized trees efficiently, it does not remove root systems that must be extracted for building pads, septic systems, or road construction. In these cases, traditional land clearing with excavation and stump removal may be the better solution.
Can I grow grass after mulching?
In very light areas forestry mulching produces a thin layer of mulch and properly performed can create a desirable seed bed. In many cases however, the layer of mulch is too thick to promote proper germination.
For new lawn applications we clear above ground growth and remove or grind stumps, then prepare the area for seed by grading and prepping the soil with our soil conditioner.
This land management practice combines clearing, grading and new lawn establishment.
How long does it take?
Forestry mulching productiony averages up to one acre per day, depending on vegetation density, terrain, and tree size.
Light overgrowth may move faster, while dense woods or limited access can affect production rates. Forestry mulching remains one of the fastest and most cost-effective clearing methods for residential, commercial, and right-of-way projects in Maryland.
